While you can do all of this directly from the Windows settings without too much effort, some applications make it even easier to manage this process. Short for Windows Automatic Updates Manager, WAU Manager is a simple program that doesn’t lack efficiency. You begin by selecting your preferences from the dashboard, where the options are pretty clear. You must first disable the built-in Windows Automatic Updates in order to get any results with WAU Manager. ![]() You can then proceed to select the appropriate behavior for the program. In Normal mode, downloading and install any updates will first require your permission. ![]() In Passive mode, the program will proceed to download and install the updates and will only show you the progress of the process. Finally, in Quiet mode, the app only shows you notifications that the updates have been installed. You can easily create a plan from the dashboard, by choosing the exact starting time of the schedule, and the number of days before the next search. You can also use the program to uninstall unwanted updates or to hide updates that are pending installation.
